Coronado Trail (US191)

coronadotrailus191.jpg

A 123-mile paved highway through steep canyons and rolling mountains, with extensive views. The Coronado Trail is an impressive route up a sheer-walled canyon and across high, rolling mountains. Sweeping panoramic views encompass hundreds of miles, and the terrain varies widely. The two-lane road is paved, traffic is usually light, and drivers are often white-knuckled and wide-eyed at the southern end through the canyon. Travel is generally slow, both for scenic viewing and for safety. Special attractions: Spectacular views, mining, colorful autumn foliage, wildlife, fishing, camping, hiking, Bear Wallow and Escudilla wilderness areas, Blue Range Primitive Area.
